Meet the Doctor

Greetings and welcome to Annapolis Natural Health!  I’m Dr. Rachel Anderson. I practice as an alternative medicine and wellness consultant and I specialize in helping people with chronic health complaints and difficult to treat health problems, especially those who have been through the conventional medical approach without seeing the improvements in their health and well-being that they would like.

I have experience with and enjoy working with people who have a wide variety of health concerns including women’s health, thyroid problems, digestive disorders, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, autoimmune disease, allergies, anxiety, depression, poor sleep and many others.

Of course, since no two people are exactly alike, it makes sense that two people with the same disease label may not benefit from the same approach to their health. I offer you the opportunity to be seen and heard as an individual and to approach your health in a uniquely personalized way.

If you have physical or emotional health concerns that are nagging, annoying, or interfering with your daily life and you feel like you’ve tried everything, or if you’re just ready to approach your health from a natural perspective, I can help you.

I maintain a current naturopathic physician license in Washington State, where I completed my medical training. I earned a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree from Bastyr University in Seattle, Washington and a Bachelor of Science degree in biological psychology from The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. Currently, I’m working on a Master of Acupuncture degree at Tai Sophia Institute in Laurel, MD. I plan to finish this program and begin offering acupuncture in addition to naturopathic medicine in 2013.

I believe that wellness is the result of balance in all aspects of our lives, and that poor health results from a disruption of this balance due to the many sources of stress we are presented with on a daily basis. Our hectic lives and daily stresses, in addition to the stress on our bodies from exposure to toxins in our food and in the environment, throw off our balance causing us to feel run-down and suffer from disease. My mission is to help my clients learn what they can do to support their own wellness and to guide them in restoring and maintaining their healthy balance.

I am a member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians, the Maryland Association of Naturopathic Physicians, the Annapolis Chamber of Commerce and the West Annapolis Business Association.
